In October 2007, the Canadian Crafts Federation / Fédération canadienne des métiers d’art participated in one of the largest international fine craft events in the world, the Cheongju International Craft Biennale. During the 2007 event, three Canadian delegates traveled to Cheongju on an exploratory mission, the success of which lead to our invitation as guest country for 2009. photo of palace wallThe CCF/FCMA has accepted the invitation on behalf of our nation, and is leading the organization of an impressive series of events which will showcase Canadian craft at its finest. A series of exhibitions, sales galleries, live demonstrations, academic presentations and more are being planned and executed by the CCF/FCMA in partnership with our member organizations, the provincial and territorial craft councils of Canada. Public and Private galleries and museums have been invited to participate, as opportunities abound for these institutions as well as schools, guilds, collectives and individual craftspeople alike.
